Just as in humans, Astrology and horoscopes could determine certain personality traits. Dog zodiac signs can give you a strong sense of who your dog is, or even what to expect.
You probably know fire signs and your own zodiac sign, but do you know your dog’s zodiac sign? Dog astrology signs can provide insights into what makes your pet tick, what causes nervous energy, or even give insight as to why your dog is so strong willed. Knowing more about your pup’s personality can help you better care for them, keep them in good health, and grow your bond even further.
Are you wondering what the dog zodiac signs say about your own dog's personality and compatibility with you? With more of us owning pets than ever before, the experts have applied the theory of astrology to help owners understand dogs based on their star signs. Just for fun! Whether your pup is a fun-loving Leo or a snoozy Taurus, we've got you covered.
While there are many theories and explanations for why our pets behave the way they do, astrology and horoscopes could determine certain personality traits, just as they are believed to for humans. A sign is very telling.
Of course, all pets have their own individual personalities, and experiences with them will differ. We encourage pet parents to truly get to know their pets' likes and dislikes and live the lifestyle that works best for them.
Aries (March 21st - April 19th)
An Aries dog is cheerful, lively and confident. If your pet is an Aries, they will be very active and agile. If you and your pet are willing and able, you could try participating in competitions and playing different games.
If an Aries dog and their boundless energy do not have an outlet, you could find yourself susceptible to a shredded sofa, some scratched wallpaper or a particularly frustrated pet!
Taurus (April 20th - May 20th)
A Taurus dog acts like the true host of the house. Inherently shy, they have a great need for security and don't like any kind of chaos.
Taurus dogs can be slow but thorough learners, and usually calm and friendly so it’s no wonder they often have such wonderful relationships with their mini humans. But there is one pitfall: A Taurus dog can be jealous of their owners, so guests can often be unwelcome!
Gemini (May 21st - June 20th)
Highly intellectual, flexible, and sensitive, Gemini dogs are the perfect canine companion for adventurous owners. They are altruistic, this being their main trait. They often get into trouble because they want to help others and fight injustice. You can take them anywhere with you.
A gemini dog is quick on the uptake, but not the type of pets to get 'attached', so they may be expert escape artists or have a tendency to get themselves lost on regular occasions. Gemini dogs don't seem to like water, so it's better to accustom them to it from the early years.
Cancer (June 21st - July 22nd)
Dogs born under the Cancer sign are warm-hearted, protective and friendly, however they can get offended easily. Ruled by the moon, these dogs are sensitive, nurturing and intuitive. You almost feel like your Cancer dog can read your thoughts – and you'd be right!
Cancer dogs can become very attached to their owners and can't stand moving houses. Cancerians can truly be the cuddliest, smartest, and most loving of pets.
Leo (July 23rd - August 22nd)
If your pet is a Leo, it can possess majestic appearance and nobility. A Leo dog is fearless, brave and believe it is their job to protect you. It's no surprise your utmost attention might be spent on maintaining their looks. At the same time, Leo's love to sleep, much preferring a nice rest to zooming around in circles.
Virgo (August 23rd - September 22nd)
Virgo dogs are one of the better-behaved signs of the dog stars, known for being incredibly disciplined and clean. These pups are also distinguished by a calm temper, and can handle stressful situations easily.
Virgo dogs are among the most high-maintenance of the zodiac. These pristine pups like to feel good and look good, so regular trips to the groomer will be a must. These perfectionist types like routine and prefer to stick to the same schedule every day. That means walks, meal times, and snuggles should run smoothly like clockwork.
However, Virgo dogs are also brilliant learners and pick up verbal commands quickly. Overall, the Virgo dog is slow to trust but endlessly affectionate once they've settled into your home. Basically a perfect furry friend.
Libra (September 23rd - October 21st)
The Libra dog is an active and easygoing pup that's just happy you found them. There's nothing they love more than being surrounded by friends old and new. They're always the center of the group at the dog park and the first to start playing.
Because they're all about having a good time, it can be hard to pull the attention of Libra dogs back once they get distracted. A Libra dog makes friends easily. Still, you can always count on them to come back to you for plenty of belly rubs and snuggling after all the fun has come to an end.
Scorpio (October 23rd - November 21st)
Scorpio pups can be a little excitable and are full of exceptional energy, although you may sometimes find they are offended. Keep an eye open for the cold shoulder every so often.
A Scorpio dog can also be a little too excitable. They are concerned with safety and will go to great lengths to secure it. A scorpio dog is very attuned to any threat, and since they're naturally suspicious, it's no surprise that scorpio dogs make great guard dogs to their pet parents.
Sagittarius (November 22nd - December 21st)
So your dog is a Sagittarius, and maybe you've caught them staring at themselves in the mirror enough times to already know. Sagittarius dogs love to travel and take a healthy amount of time before they form their own opinions on things.
Pets of the Sagittarius sign are also one of the most restless, cheerful, and adventurous creatures. That's why they can often find themselves in unusual situations. Your little companion tends to tolerate trips easily and can be very amenable to training. One thing to keep in mind is that small or cramped spaces can prove difficult for a Sagittarius dog.
Capricorn (December 22nd - January 19th)
Is your pet a Capricorn? Canines born under this star sign are more likely to be calm and balanced. They won't cause chaos, but will benefit from having a strict daily schedule.
Capricorn dogs born under this sign have great dignity, poise and self-possession. Even when they are puppies, they act much older than their age and need very little training or guidance. It seems that they were born knowing and they only get better with age.
Aquarius (January 20th - February 18th)
Aquarius is the sign of friendship, which means your four-legged friend will love to hang out with other pups and humans. Aquarius dogs try to make friends with all guests and other animals, however, one thing they seem to loathe is sharp sounds and screams. Training an Aquarius can require a lot of patience.
Pisces (February 19th - March 20th)
If you have a Pisces pet, you are in luck: their intuition is well-developed, they feel your mood and are always nearby when you need them. Keep in mind that they don't take kindly to loud noises and shouting, however, they do seem to enjoy spending time alone if you ever need to pop out of the house without them for a short time.
Of course, there's a lot that influences your dog's behavior, like their breed, energy level, and environment. But, believe it or not, the date they were born plays a role in their personality, too. The dog zodiac signs are a very powerful thing for our highly emotional, highly intelligent dogs. Turns out, there’s a lot you can learn from dog astrology!
Whether you’re an astrology enthusiast or just a devoted dog lover (or you’re just dreaming of adding a dog to your life), now you can better understand your furry friend.
WHO IS PRIDE+GROOM?
PRIDE+GROOM was born because 4 New York City dog lovers wanted the same level of grooming products for their dogs that they themselves enjoyed. They looked (hard) but nothing was up to snuff. Or sniff. Like so many, we love our families and take pride in our homes, and we consider our pets to be integral parts of those entities. That said, we could not find an effective way to coif them that was on par with the way we tended to our children, our homes, or ourselves. These beloved pets are allowed on the furniture and in our beds, and yet even when fresh from the groomer, we knew they did not smell or feel as good as they could.
With the development of our coat-specific shampoos, conditioner and deodorizing spray, we think we found just the way to say thanks for being the best and the sweetest MVP of the house.
PRIDE+GROOM is the first dog grooming brand launched under a beauty platform, with formulas made in a clean beauty and scent lab. We know beauty is not only skin deep. We did a ton of research to create the entire line. Each product is formulated with its own unique blend of essential oils sourced from around the world.
